ABSTRACT

The notion of transference, developed in The Dynamics of Transference, is a phenomenon that not only appears during psychoanalytic treatment but also in daily life and is characterised by being of an unconscious nature. The reactions where transference predominates are always inappropriate, due to the quality, quantity or duration of the reaction. In fact, motivation, concentration or dispersion during certain periods or moments of a match has its origin in transferences. It is therefore important to detect transferences, since this will help to modify dispositions and conduct that which will benefit the mental health of the athlete. The psychologist serves to give confidence and mental power to the athlete". In pathological scenarios, a loss of feeling about self or states of mental confusion can be observed. Fans can boost the emergence of an oceanic feeling, resembling that which is mystical or religious.
