ABSTRACT

The consultation took place on different levels: an individual manager level, a team level, and an organization level, because a new departmental and management structure was established after the assignment had been completed. The company's attitude is that employee involvement is essential for the company's success, and that it is management's job to create this involvement. In this company, the human resources function provides human resources consultants who advise and support the line managers in their human resources development work. The intermediate stage, where the team work assumed practical form with the systematic distribution of responsibility and management control, provided good opportunity for testing new ways of cooperating and new relations. The working hypotheses, which the consultant uses to grasp the case, are the exclusive property of the consultant. Working hypotheses represent the consultant's internal dialogue about the system's difficulties and resources.
