ABSTRACT

Homework tasks provide a framework for trainees to apply new learning in their agency contexts. It is a constant struggle to ensure that the course sustains its relevance to participants' work practice and people are able to use new conceptual thinking in their work lives. The difference between homework tasks and course projects is that homework tasks are usually set between sessions whereas projects are set over longer periods. It is important to set projects which connect with the preoccupations of the group at that particular time so as to be able to link the feedback with further teaching. The group can be divided into geographical sub-groups or groups of their choice to work on this, beginning with the suggestion that members of the sub-groups should share their professional geneograms with each other. Course participants can be asked to try to visit each other in their agencies.
