ABSTRACT
If there is a Freudian concept that evokes the idea of heritage and its shadow, it is the concept of the superego. The very term indicates that, by towering above the Ego, the Superego casts a shadow that is either threatening or protective. The notion of heritage brings together the key issues of disappearance and transmission, of legacy and usufruct.
