ABSTRACT

‘Creativity is the making of a life and a world’. Industries and organizations are increasingly aware of the power that creativity has, both in terms of how opportunities for its expression can enhance job satisfaction and as a means of gaining a competitive edge in the marketplace. Creativity pays dividends and, as one of the highest of all human functions, is central to artistic expression, scientific discovery, political leadership, entrepreneurial endeavours, and successful businesses. Creativity is stimulated by drawing on skills and interests from multiple areas of our lives. Primary creativity refers to peak moments in our thinking and behaviour that leave us feeling inspired at some deep or transformational level. Secondary creativity, in contrast, refers to those more mundane moments we take for granted because they are so much a part of how we live.
