ABSTRACT

This chapter examines one of modern life’s biggest challenges: how to achieve a healthy work–life balance. Multiple demands are made upon us at home as well as work and we all have to manage diverse roles that often appear to conflict – to give more time to one means to detract time from another. If ones work–life balance needs improvement, then the first step is working out where exactly their time is going. The solution to having a great work–life balance is knowing what really matters to one and prioritizing their efforts accordingly. There are four golden rules that one need to know in order to achieve a work–life balance that works for them. These are as follows: Knowing how one actually spend their time; being clear about ones priorities; doing the most important things first; and treating ones time as their most precious resource.
