ABSTRACT

The relationship between what medicine has to offer and people’s desires has been completely altered. If the sciences have established themselves with the intention of putting aside these dimensions of desire and fantasy, the contemporary biotechnologies that have developed from these same sciences project them with full force. It is that biotechnologies give the impression that today they can make the limits of the symbolic waver. That they can perhaps even go beyond those limits by transgressing all reference points between the sexes and the generations. Contemporary artists also enable us to think about, and deal with, the Real that is brought into play by science and its biotechnological productions.
