ABSTRACT

Freud considered that he had only described their most superficial aspect. Certainly, Freud’s conception is different, but one can doubtless make connections between the ideas expressed in the letters to Fliess and those of the Metapsychology. Freud was moreover aware of this argument, as he concludes his account with a reference to ‘abandoned sexual zones’. Abandoned in the very course of development, it goes without saying. One could add to this the relations he envisages between the ego and sexuality. Freud’s conception, by making always present the link to the body and even to the soma, connects the psyche to its original complement in the body and even the soma. Freud spoke of the inscription of different systems of signs. During the year 1896, Freud is haunted by the question of time.
