ABSTRACT

The Arab population is partially Muslim and partially Christian. The Community Centre of Acco serves both Arabs and Jews, but its professional staff—psychologists, social workers, and so on—is more than seventy per cent Jewish. Hopper and Weinberg have enlarged the conceptualisation of the foundation matrix. One aspect of their elaborations is important for the case of this boy: “The matrix of a social system was conceptualized as a source of constraint and restrain on the members of the particular social system”. The Palestinian society needs young people to fight the enemy. Out of a pressure that was imposed on him, mainly unconsciously, this boy is chosen by the society to accomplish a role. He takes the role because he has the valency for such a role that evolved from his traumatic biography. The social envelope was full of holes of rage and violence.
