ABSTRACT

In 2013, Andrea Pino, Sofie Karasek, Danielle Dirks, Caroline Heldman, Kristin Brown, and the author created an organization called End Rape On Campus (EROC) out of necessity. Today, EROC exists as a national US based non-profit organization. The mission is threefold: to directly support survivors and their families/friends; to prevent sexual violence through education and to teach all students about their rights to an equitable education; to advocate for legislative reform to ensure our laws regarding gender-based violence are fair and equitable to all. After the experience of filming The Hunting Ground, Andrea and he knew what he wanted to do more to highlight survivor voices and focus on those who are most marginalized within this movement. While the film was a great 101 introduction to the issue of sexual violence in US higher education, he wanted to show more of whom survivors were before and after their assaults.
