ABSTRACT

Mary, eight months old, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Α., were referred for a consultation because of her frequent regurgitation. She had been born "small for date;" her growth curve showed some delay. The pediatrician had repeatedly told the parents that she was a "light-weight" and even mentioned the word "dwarf." This problem was now compounded by the fact that Mary spit up her food several times a day, sometimes with frank vomiting. There was anxiety that this might further hamper her growth.
