Unsettling the settler: history, culture, race, and the Australian self

I've spent the last five years writing a book about "settler" Australians. It's a novel about a representative settler, William Thornhill, who comes to Australia as a convict—arid at the end of his life recognizes that this foreign place has become his home. It's a complicated sort of home, though, because in some ways it is still foreign.
