ABSTRACT
After the manuscript of this book was in the hands of Mrs Klara King, the kind and long-suffering editor who was preparing it for publication, I received a paper from Chile which had been accepted to be read at the International Psychoanalytic Congress in Rome in August 1989. The paper was written by three psychoanalysts, Drs Mario Gomberoff, Carmen Noemi, and Lituana Pualuan, and was entitled The autistic object: Its relationship with narcissism in the transference and countertransference of neurotic and borderline patients.'
