ABSTRACT

Organisations, systems, ideologies crush the person if their purpose is forgotten. This is so if they are viewed as idols to be worshipped. The social system enters the personality unbidden. It enters through a pressure. This pressure finds its purchase through the individual’s fear of loneliness. Reverie is an activity whose source is in the central being of the personality. The being of the person is characterised by its attribute of in-relation. The extended part of the personality is the pragmatist. It is that part of the personality which records outer events. One effect of attention is to bring what belongs to the realm of the senses from the outer sense-dominated sphere of the personality into the inner. The ego is that part of the personality that faces the external world; it is the umbrella word for the senses.
