ABSTRACT

Psychoanalyst responded with a brief discussion to a question from the audience concerning the position of women in society and, in doing so, touched on some differences between his outlook on the problems of femininity and that of classical psychoanalysis. Psychoanalyst will go directly to the heart of the matter by questioning whether the difference between his views regarding the area of female sexuality and the views of his critics is really as great as they seem to think. In pursuing the discussion of a possible divergence of his views from those considered to be classical psychoanalytic ones, psychoanalyst will try to avoid the traditional "nature vs. nurture" dialectics of the usual arguments among analysts concerning this matter. Psychoanalyst agree with the classical position that the experience of having suffered an injury to body narcissism is inevitable.
