ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that “personal knowledge” is enhanced through social dreaming because it goes beyond scientific enquiry by using the human capacity to recognize and acknowledge the “mystic”, that is, any science the scientist does not understand. The natural and organic sciences have been brought into existence, and continue to emerge, through scientists observing natural phenomena, animal and plant life in the universe. Personal knowledge, by contrast to the natural and organic sciences, is knowledge of, which the person accrues through intuition and insight. The mind uses two modes of thinking: the principle of difference and that of sameness. The purpose of social dreaming is to transform the thinking and knowledge embedded in the dream narrative by means of free association and amplification so as to make links among the dreams and, in that process, be available for new thoughts and thinking. The diverse dream narratives of the individuals are carried into the matrix.
