ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on concrete and practical ways to engage with the Dialogue of Acknowledgement. In this dialogue, the authors use frustrations and criticisms in the relationship to create new confidence, connection, and empathy. Frustration and criticism are the golden elements in our everyday life, which we will use to recreate the magic and the wonderful openness and understanding we felt way back then, when we loved each other body, mind, and soul. The Dialogue of Acknowledgement is a reciprocal process, which enables us to dissolve the Gordian knot that occasionally develops in love relationships, when the power struggle proves insurmountable. This process will help to loosen the knot and provide the couple with sufficient insight and empathy to "unravel the threads". The central axes of the continued work are: maintaining closeness and contact; communication that is acknowledging and communication that is non-acknowledging; appreciative communication; and dialogue.
