ABSTRACT

The young and rather sensitive doctor who saw her first felt rather uneasy about meeting the word penis and showed signs of relief when the mother proceeded to relate other symptoms. The curious thing is that the doctor knew from personal experience that excitement made him want to go somewhere, but he knew this with a different part of his mind from that which he was used to bring to bear on clinical problems. The boy easily falls back on his skin erotism, for popular urticaria is in the author opinion no more than skin excitement, normal except when caught up in the whirlwind of obsessional masturbation. The increased sensitiveness of the urinary tract is another expression of repression of genital erotism. The urinary tract, instead of the glans penis, becomes hyper-aesthetic, and the pleasure of micturition becomes very intense.
