ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author explores MindBody philosophy for many years, mostly as a personal journey. She begins to actively and deliberately integrate this philosophy into her work. She suggests that in a non-dual MindBody holistic approach the personhood of both the health practitioner and the person seeking assistance for their health condition are intimately and mutually influential on each other. She describes a position as university lecturer in occupational therapy, after thirty years as a practitioner. Her transition from practising occupational therapy to teaching it in a tertiary health education context was exciting, full of potential and initially deeply challenging. In occupational therapy literature, holistic practice is described as encompassing a more inclusive perspective than many other professions in the Western healthcare system. Studying the MindBody Healthcare papers began to reveal the potential to bring at least some of her personal and professional domains together.
