ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author reflects on own journey of integrating a MindBody philosophy into her psychotherapy practice. She describes the challenges her has faced and illustrates developmental process with some clinical vignettes. She addresses the notion of spirituality in this piece her hope the reader gains a sense that it is intrinsically there. Honouring the transpersonal relationship, and the use of mindfulness and reverie, is to her the essence of what works in psychotherapy. As psychotherapeutic enquiry does not lend itself to the standardized measurement used to inform evidence-based medicine and practice, she perceived its method as less valid or legitimate based on her own medical upbringing. The measurement is how the person feels during and at the end of the process; in other words, the proof is in the pudding. By MindBody therapy she means utilizing psychotherapeutic technique to widen the framework to allow the whole person in the room.
