ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book discusses the difficulties that arise when dealing with transvestism, transsexualism, and transgender are in part related to the pressure for concrete solutions when confronted with the request for sex reassignment. It focuses on some of the issues that allowed for a lively discussion, and highlight unresolved questions that call for further psychoanalytic reflection. Transvestites who dress up like women have a different psychopathological organization from transsexuals. For Simona Argentieri, transvestites are more evolved and maintain their sexuality manifested through erotization of the transvested body. C. Chiland does not accept Argentieri‘s claim what while transvestites preserve their sexual gender identity and the use of drives, accompanied by intense erotization of the transvested body, transsexuals, through mutilation of the parts of the body that represent it, sacrifice sexuality.
