ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a psychodynamic concept that Dr. Davanloo has explored in the past. It explores in the Montreal closed circuit training programme. It should be clear that there is a certain rhythm to the unconscious and how it works in this setting. The goal should always be complete removal of the resistance and total mobilisation of the unconscious. When resistance is removed, important unconscious emotions are experienced and important communications emerge from the unconscious. When resistance is removed, the therapist begins to understand exactly what is at the heart of the pathogenic core of the unconscious. The therapist begins the interview by focusing on the patient's idealisation of destructiveness. The therapist knows the patient well enough to have a firm grasp on her unconscious defensive organisation. The sadism is transposed from the therapist to the patient. Having the therapist's sadism leads to a tremendous amount of anxiety in the patient.
