ABSTRACT

The crossing of the geographical divide of the Irish Sea, which was necessary to present this chapter at a conference, represents a metaphor that for most separates family from strangers. Dramatically act repeated the original trauma in a mirroring form in which there was no healthy crossing of the divide from unconscious enactment to conscious reflection. It is the crossing of the divide from internal to external, from within to between, that is such an intrinsic and core part of forensic work where that which is internal and unprocessed becomes acted-out externally. The children in turn re-enacted the original trauma by crossing their own divide, from internal to external, in addition to crossing the social divide by enlisting strangers to commit a gang murder. A dramatic re-enactment took place, where thinking was not possible, which meant crossing the divide causing history to repeat itself.
