ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author wants to make a brief journey along a particular theological stream, taking a similar course with psychology. The first stream is his own theology, or less ambitiously, his theological perspective. He cannot assume that others will feel at home in this stream, though some may. The first stream is his own theology, or less ambitiously, his theological perspective. In an attempt to keep things simple but avoid simplicity, he begins from one or other of two areas: the beliefs, theology and doctrines of a particular religion, or alternatively, its practices, lifestyle and ethics. Macquarrie's mammoth work gave those of us who trained theologically in the 1960s a new lease of theological life. The author tries to indicate a theological perspective which makes sense to him, both in terms of the biblical record, the testimony of others - past and present - and of his own faith experience.
