ABSTRACT
Faced with the negative realization of an absent breast, the ego will attempt to deal with the painful experience by means of omnipotent beliefs which conceal the difference between true and false. The unconscious and the messages it sends are always unique, just like the city of Amarna; it is not its content that changes, but the attitude with which the preconscious relates to those unconscious contents, similar to the Egyptian excavators. The village of Amarna, sometime located between memphis and thobes in Middle Egypt. It would represent the interaction between a preconception and its realization, resulting in a conception. In learning from experience Wilfred Bion stated that Sigmund Freud’s theory about consciousness being the only sense organ of psychic qualities, was not satisfactory. Incapacity to metabolize beta elements into alpha ones will result in an increment of the former that will be located at a preconscious level and will generate what Bion has called a “beta screen”.
