ABSTRACT

This chapter provides poetry; and a collection of creative nonfiction. It explains a glimpse into the complexities of mother love. Mothers who nurture and inspire and offer exuberance and joy and blessedness, protectors of the hearth and the children; who laugh together until one cry, in good times and hard times, the creator and the lion-hearted. This is about older mothers and young mothers and women about to become mothers, capturing the most simple, quiet moments and the most dramatic and passionate. The therapist-contributors have told the author how much they appreciate finding a home for some of their innermost thoughts and feelings, where their creative and analytic minds can be one. The contributors have all done enormous internal work on motherhood, work that is never truly complete. In the end, for all its mystery, all its complexity, people have a longing for unconditional mother love and for life's rhythm that beats in the maternal heart.
