ABSTRACT

Ashish Khan plays sarod in the upper register, in a staccato style without bending of notes, giving Khan’s sarod the brighter sound of an acoustic guitar. George Harrison was just a magical guy and he would show up, get out of the car with his guitar and come in and start playing. For instance, the backing vocals seem to shadow the sound effects compiled by John, while Paul plucks away on his bass guitar in a manner suggesting the grunting of pigs. On August 16, the Beatles recorded a new 4-track version of the song that featured George on guitar, Paul on bass, Ringo on drums, and John on organ. Between 1966 and 1967, George and the Beatles had been gradually expanding their knowledge of Eastern philosophy and culture. This process culminated in early 1968 with a trip to Rishikesh, India to study with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
