ABSTRACT

This chapter explores frameworks for technology integration, lesson planning with tech in mind, technology for 21st-century learning, social-emotional learning, and educational equity, and engaging families with technology. A useful starting point for most tech coaches is to have a framework, or series of frameworks, which define how they understand best practices in edtech integration. Using a model like Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge can be particularly helpful for tech coaches when thinking about how to help clients meaningfully select tech. As coaches work with teachers to select and implement edtech choices, they need to have an awareness of how modern edtech tools can benefit the development of Social-Emotional Learning skills or consider what Social-Emotional Learning skills students will need to practice employing during the use of the technology. When coaches work with teachers to consider the possibilities provided by technology as well as the routines and procedures necessary for success, technology use in the classroom can have powerful effects.
