ABSTRACT

Too often when we think of a math classroom, we think of a classroom full of students facing forward and listening to their teacher explain the lesson for the day. If time permits, the teacher allows students to work on problems that are assigned. Any problems not completed by the end of class become homework. Students work through problems at home that mimic those in class. Students sometimes struggle at home on the homework, either not completing the homework or finding answers through friends or family. Students often wait until class the next day to ask questions about the problems they didn’t understand on the homework. This pattern repeats itself throughout the school year. Math becomes a struggle for a lot of students.
