ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the case studies conducted at the following automobile manufacturing units: two-wheeler manufacturing unit, four-wheeler manufacturing unit, heavy vehicle manufacturing unit and agricultural manufacturing unit. The world’s leading manufacturer in the two-wheeler sector, the unit is working to increase fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The four-wheeler manufacturing unit was established in 1981 with the objectives of modernizing the Indian automobile industry, producing fuel-efficient vehicles, and producing indigenous utility cars for the Indian population. Indian customers have a passion for fuel efficiency in choosing automobiles. Achieving more energy per car from a single drop of fuel is a challenge for the designer, but is important for the economy, the planet, and the customer. Earning the trust of customers globally is at the heart of development philosophy. The main pillars of total quality management are quality assurance systems in manufacturing, new product development, customer operations, sales, and supplier management.
