ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the outcomes of survey and case studies and their synthesis through a qualitative model to evolve the impact of manufacturing competency on strategic success in the automobile industry. The qualitative modeling used in this study involved deriving expert opinion and using this along with findings of previous phases (literature review and survey and case studies) in a structured manner. In the present study, a survey was conducted in a vast number of automobile and auto parts manufacturing organizations, to ascertain the impact of manufacturing competencies on strategic success of the automobile manufacturing industry in North India. The approach has aimed towards justifying the role of manufacturing competency in providing a significant effect on the strategy of an organization, thus improving organization performance.
