ABSTRACT

It is important to regulate health, safety, and environmental issues for all natural gas pipeline systems concerning transmission and distribution. Health, safety, and environment management is critical in natural gas pipelines because it involves high-risk activities. Pipelines engage manpower, expensive and complex machinery, and an extensive support system, which must be protected because these require high investment and have a long payback period. Thus, if adequate safety measures are not implemented, accidents sometimes can be catastrophic in terms of causalities, environmental pollution, loss of investment, and reputation.
