ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a detailed account of the efficiency of the Si solar cell and an ideal way to enhance its efficiency by using a thin film spectral converter for the development of Photovoltaic (PV) solar technology. One of the greatest challenges in PV technology is how to increase the current cell efficiency of silicon solar cell by capturing the maximum solar radiation incident on them and generating clean, affordable solar electricity. A PV cell is an electrical device that works on the basis of the PV effect. The perovskite solar cell is also a promising field in PV technology. Another class of solar cell that uses inorganic materials is the thin film solar cell. It shows a rapid increase in cell efficiency, up to 21%. The thin layer of the cell is effectively used for energy conversion in the thin film solar cell.
