ABSTRACT

The form teacher in any secondary school is in a key position to coordinate what happens to any individual pupil. The form teacher is a very important part of the process of identifying the needs of pupils. The form teacher should be alert for the pupil who is having personal difficulties of some kind, whether at home or at school. The counselling role of the form teacher is especially valuable throughout the years of schooling. Form teachers may also be able to help other pupils to accept those with special needs. The role of the form teacher is to try to get such pupils to see how their behaviour is seen by others and to stress the importance of highly intelligent people being able to get on with others. The way the form teacher deals with problems which arise is also very important.
