ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book examines some of the central philosophical assumptions and principles in anarchist theory in order to find out if anarchism represents a relevant political platform for ecological economics. It provides a synopsis of the philosophy of science’s perspectives and the methodological approaches relevant for understanding the discussions. The book focuses on some of the main problems of our time, such as the degradation of soil, water and air, the overexploitation of natural resources, the increasing gap between rich and poor, food safety, climate change and decreasing quality of life. It examines a political philosophical context of interpretation, relevant for understanding the ideas advanced in anarchism. The book explores an introduction to some of the main sources of inspiration behind the establishment of ecological economics.
