ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the most suitable explanation representing mobile application stores’ business model considering mobile and smart phones’ value network. It shows that using a System Dynamics approach in defining business models can be of great value. The chapter identifies the main actors and their contributions in the business model of application stores in general and the Apple App Store as a case. It discusses a proposed business model for the App Store with identified sections of customer segments, customer relationships, communication and distribution channels, value propositions, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, revenue streams, and cost structures. Consequently, this research would be started with identifying key role players and their main contribution in the mobile application value network. The emergence of mobile applications has also made the entire structure of the value network of mobile industry undergo change as well which indicates the importance of recognizing the market of mobile applications.
