ABSTRACT

This chapter examines a case study of Competitive Intelligence as the current progress in the field of Information & Communication Technology (ICT). It shows systems thinking and system dynamics tools that are able to support systems/systemic approach to scientific investigation. The common deficiencies in solving contemporary problems are the lack of systems approach, limited focus on the context, and also the inability to properly understand other systems. The chapter focuses on the system dynamics model as an ICT tool that may be helpful in the competitiveness of enterprises. It describes that it is not just about systems thinking, but also about the use of modelling and simulation experiments for the search for answers to research questions to be successful. The dynamics model was calibrated with real data; part of the data was obtained by the heuristics methods. Random elements represent external influences on the model.
