ABSTRACT

Hydroxytriazenes are well-known for their analytical application in the detection and determination of entire d-series in general and first transition series in particular. The application of hydroxytriazenes apart from their use as spectrophotometric reagents or even metallochromic indicators in complexometric determination dates back to the early 1960s. A series of hydroxytriazenes with varied substituents has been offering excellent spectrophotometric as well as complexometric reagents. The medicinal application of hydroxytriazenes on the other hand is of recent origin. A number of hydroxytriazenes have been used for the estimation of transition metals since the year 1999. This chapter provides a table of hydroxytriazenes which has been used recently for the estimation of individual transition metal. Hydroxytriazenes have been successfully developed as medicinally applicable compounds by using the strategy of theoretical prediction of a new structure with a hydroxytriazene moiety, synthesizing these compounds and validating some of the predicted activities.
