ABSTRACT

Wherever possible, tables are arranged according to classes of chemical compounds. This was not always possible when different chemical compounds were chromatographed under the same experimental conditions. The reader is referred to the compound index for specific compounds that may appear in different tables. <target id="page_136" target-type="page">136</target>Soap Tlc of Peptides

Tailing

Layer: L1 = SiO2. L2 = SiO2 + 4% DBS (triethanolamine dodecylbenzenesulfonate). L3 = SiO2 + 4% Na-DSS (sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate). L4 = SiO2 + 1% H-DBS (dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid). L5 = SiO2 + 2% H-DBS. L6 = SiO2 + 4% H-DBS. Layers are prepared by mixing 20 g of silanized silica gel 60 HF (C2) (Merck) in 50 mℓ of 95% ethanol with a known concentration of detergent. Detergent concentration refers to the ethanolic solution in which the silica gel is suspended. 137Solvent: S1 = Water-methanol-acetic acid, 64.3:30:5.7 v/v. Detection: D1 = The wet layers are sprayed with 1% ninhydrin in pyridine-glacial acetic acid, 5:1 and the layers are then heated at 100°C for 5 min. Technique: T1 = Temperature, 25°C; migration distance, 11 cm.
