ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book traces the use of biometric technology from a wide variety of perspectives. It covers topics such as the difference between physiological and behavioral biometrics, providing for a formal definition of what biometrics is all about, what a biometric template is, reviewing the major key performance indicators, as well as reviewing the biometric sensors. The book is devoted primarily to iris recognition. It examines some of the specific applications of iris recognition, apart from those in which it is being used primarily today. The book provides a case study that examined the famous National Geographic picture of the Afghan girl known as Sharbat Gula. It also provides an overview of how facial recognition actually works. The book discusses the advantages and disadvantages of facial recognition technology.
