ABSTRACT

The album is the physical evidence that enquiry is taking place and it goes together with celebration and feedback. Quite often we get hung up on making sure the children are doing something towards an end product. If they are looking busy making something, then surely it is worthwhile! However, don’t lose track of the ‘unseen and intangible’ skills that are of great importance to enquiry. It can take on various forms and should be appropriate to the enquiry. Maybe it will be a collection of photographs and observations to go towards a whole-school flipchart that will show evidence of questioning, writing or creativity. It could be a presentation from a group of children to the class or parents or even a ‘live’ recording shared on social media. Whatever it is, the photo album is the record of skills happening, which then can be used for assessment purposes, celebration or just the intrinsic knowledge that enquiry progress is taking place. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429487675/37cd4b35-cbd9-4612-a78e-6a4cf6332a91/content/fig8_1_B.tif"/>
