ABSTRACT

Performers’ features and expressions must be clear to the audience every time the curtain rises. The one makeup performers will apply the most is the basic corrective stage makeup. Corrective makeup is about enhancing natural features and emphasizing expressions through the use of shadow and highlight. In this section, students will see two different ways to achieve their corrective application. The first describes how to emphasize angles for strong, masculine characters; the second makeup focuses on curves and colors to enhance feminine characters. Both applications focus on lips, cheeks, eyes, color, and foundation. Step-by-step instructions are made easy to follow through color photographs embedded in the chapter. At-home practice will be simple for students as they study the text.
