ABSTRACT

Makeup sanitation is one of the most important things an artist can practice if they want to work in the industry. In fact, makeup can be a holistic experience when paired with personal hygiene and safe products. Chapter 2 explores an appropriate hygiene regimen that individuals taking a makeup class should follow as well as guidelines to keeping the face and body in top condition. Keeping the makeup, tools, and kit clean and sanitary is of utmost importance. The chapter delves into the reasoning behind good sanitation techniques as well as methods of keeping the cosmetics and equipment germ and bacteria free. The final section discusses the use of hazardous chemicals in cosmetic and beauty products. This is an unregulated industry, and consumers must be knowledgeable before purchasing. Chemicals can be in everything, but identifying the bad ones makes all the difference.
