ABSTRACT

Mobile learning represents a permanent solution to many of the problems in education. Education in India has reached a critical stage. It is necessary for future leaders to develop their skills and contribute to the nation’s growth and prosperity, which is a much desired and serious reform. The education style and pedagogies that has been developed were suitable for our agrarian and industrial era but education in 21st century needs an advanced and more interactive pedagogy. In this postindustrial world, education delivered through devices such as smartphones and tablets enable the students to gain access to digitized information and personalized assessment. Mobile learning today is a mania in research community. But the successful integration of mobile learning in our education scenarios is possible though user’s acceptance. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to identify factors that affect students’ adoption of mobile learning in higher education using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) (Venkatesh et al., 2003) model. The study adopted correlation and regression for analysis on data collected from 285 respondents. The findings obtained from the study indicated that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, lecturers’ influence, quality of services, personal innovativeness were all significant factors that affect the behavioral intention of the students toward m-learning. 236 The discussions and results in the study provide apt information regarding designing and features of m-learning tools for the students.
