ABSTRACT

Mobile commerce (m-commerce) may be orchestrated as the subset and advanced form of e-commerce. It has been emerging as the popular means of business throughout the globe. India is witnessing rapid changes in the demographic and lifestyle variables with the revolution of technological development. It essentially reinforces higher penetration of mobiles including smart phones and growing affinity toward the use of internet through mobile gadgets. M-commerce has been evolving as the new generation business trajectory to play a potentially leading role in Indian economy. The State policy has been consistent to develop public infrastructure including information and communication technology in the country by the successive governments. In recent times, the State has been emphasizing on strengthening digital movements and cashless ecosystem. This chapter will attempt to explore India’s preparedness to grab the opportunity for excelling m-commerce.
