ABSTRACT
In today’s era in vitro diagnostic devices play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of any disease or disorder. They provide three-fold information on diagnostic, observing/monitoring, and compatibility purposes from human body specimens after their in vitro analysis or examination. In this chapter, we mainly focus on the diagnostic devices which are used for screening and testing for different diseases and their principle or applications. These diagnostic devices have the efficiency to determine the disease or condition of any human or animal body by using calibrators, reagents, software, specimen, receptacles, control materials, and similar instruments or equipments or other items. Rapid diagnostic tests are very popular IVD intended for use by individual person for instant results. Their prime advantage is that they have reduced the laboratory visit and related patient exercise. However, it should not be forgotten that these devices are an instrument so little bit of error in prediction can cause a life-threatening situation. Thus the responsibility of these diagnostic devices is very immense. In conclusion, it is expected that these devices should be used in the treatment and diagnosis to make it easier and better, but 320 the treatment should not be blindly dependent on the result of this in vitro diagnostic devices for eliminating any risk of error.
