ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book argues that there is no such thing as naturalistic religion; that it is not the case that science defeats naturalism; that it is not the case that religion defeats naturalism; and (d) that it is not the case that science defeats religion. It presents what seems to be a compelling case that naturalism defeats religion, the book focuses on an only partially articulated theory of big pictures, and some controversial views about theoretical virtues, in order to establish the framework within which the case for the superiority of naturalistic views is developed. It also focuses on one side who think that philosophy of religion, if not philosophy more broadly, is a discredited waste of time, and those on the other side who think that naturalism is the worst of all possible big pictures and clearly the spawn of the devil.
