ABSTRACT

School is the place where Tourette syndrome (TS) patients have the most control of symptoms. Social motivation is indeed a strong support to reduce tics, compulsions or other manifestations. A TS student has to face various difficulties, not only those related to the fulfilment of school commitments. TS students can face a series of difficulties at school, both on the academic and social level. TS students’ Social Impairment is sometimes due to their guilt because of dysfunctional behaviours towards schoolmates. A typical reaction is rage outbursts with verbal or physical aggression. D. W. Woods et al demonstrate the efficacy of meetings for teachers and schoolmates, especially when a movie on TS. TS students entering the school environment are burdened with their tics and behavioural problems. They may worry about possible intimidations, being misinterpreted all while having to care about school performances and therapy-related commitments.
