ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews human superior achievements in one domain, namely that of business. It focuses on the challenge of mutating human characteristics from the standpoint of business/economic achievements. The chapter also focuses on ‘model-characteristics’ of business leadership that could be developed in humankind to enhance economic prosperity and people’s wellbeing. The monograph’s quintessence can be encapsulated into three central issues. The first main issue attempts to fathom the state of wellbeing by seeking to disentangle the fundamental and varied components of that multifaceted complex phenomenon. The second issue examined in this monograph concerns conventional definitions of wellbeing. The third issue is concerned with building an archetype that is sufficiently comprehensive to serve as a composite all-embracing benchmark for evaluating significant changes in the wellbeing of the globe’s stakeholders. Existing indicators of progress in wellbeing will have to be carefully chosen, duly fine-tuned or corrected, and properly weighted.
