ABSTRACT

In the ‘era of globalization’, many people have emphasized the desirability of the goal of ‘economic growth’. Judging by this criterion, one could state that the evolution of ‘economic growth’ has been momentous, benefiting rising proportions of humans considerably. The condemned practices comprise notably: forced adult and child labour, neglect in the protection of health-cum-safety problems that affect workers and their families, spread of graft and corruption, and various other abuses of ‘universal human rights’. Human wellbeing lies in the harmonious symbiosis of material and moral factors. Universal values need to be implemented for the sake of humanity’s wellbeing – ratcheting-up continuously in an additive and irreversible fashion similarly to the progress in ‘science and technology’. That challenge merits the relentless top priority attention of creative intellectuals and innovative practitioners who can influence the evolution of wellbeing on planet Earth positively. Hopefully, humans who have power, foresight and stamina are collectively able to steer away humankind from planetary existential disasters.
